Over 10 Years as a Super Lawyer! Congratulate Emma Hemness with Us!

You may know that our own attorney, Emma Hemness, specializes in Elder Law but did you know she does so much more than just this practice area? Emma has been meeting the elder law and estate planning needs of her clients for over two decades right here in Tampa Bay. She helps clients and their families in the Tampa area by providing legal guidance for long-term care, asset protection planning, estate planning, guardianship, guardian advocacy, incapacity determinations, Medicaid or nursing home qualification, probate, special needs planning, special needs trusts, trust administration, and Veterans Aid and Attendance benefits.

We are pleased to announce that for her ELEVENTH straight year she has been named to the 2019 Florida Super Lawyers list.

The Super Lawyers designation recognizes no more than 5% of all practicing attorneys in each state. Super Lawyers itself states “Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a rigorous, multiphase rating process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with third party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement.”

Emma was included among those listed as Super Lawyers in Elder Law.

Beyond this inclusion, Emma received the highest recognition for 2016 with her inclusion on the Super Lawyers Top 50 Florida Women Lawyers and in the top 50 of all Florida lawyers in 2018!

Emma Hemness is Tampa Bay’s greatest legal treasure for those seeking elder law and estate planning advice. Although she is humble when you speak to her, you immediately realize there is a powerhouse of knowledge behind her easy demeanor. Emma is frequently recognized, consulted and acknowledged by her peers statewide as a leading authority in the field of Elder Law. In fact, her opinion is often sought as an elder law expert, having appeared in various media including the Tampa Bay Times, local radio shows, and the New York Times.

Emma has served as a leader in many organizations devoted to the elderly and persons with disabilities/special needs. She has been the Florida Bar Elder Law Section Chair and the President of the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys.  She is a member of the invitation-only national organization of special needs lawyers, the Special Needs Alliance. Ms. Hemness is a member of the board for the local Area Agency on Aging, the Senior Connection, having served as its Chair.

We encourage you to get to know Emma. Whether it is as a speaker for your organization, as a client, or a fellow professional in the Tampa Bay community, we welcome your questions and look forward to supporting you. Do not hesitate to reach out to our firm today, or any time in the future.
