Do I need to appoint the same person as my agent in my health care power of attorney as power of attorney?
You definitely do not have to appoint the same individual as your healthcare proxy, and your power of attorney's agent. In fact often times it's wise not to appoint the same individual. The person who you appoint as agent under your power of attorney should be someone who you trust to manage your finances, and to take care of your property, while the individual who you appoint as your agent under healthcare surrogate should the person who you feel will most respect, and adequately defend your medical decision making, and the choices you will want made at the end of your life.
