There's no simple answer to that question. You really need to meet with a qualified Elder Law Attorney in order to review your documents and see if those documents need to be redone. Some of the key questions to be asked is, will those documents be applicable in the state of Florida? One example is, Florida had an extreme change to it's Durable Power of Attorney statute as recent as October of 2011. Sometimes those Powers of Attorney documents from another state will not hold up in the state of Florida. It's important to meet with an Elder Law Attorney to see if your documents really do protect you if a long term illness is a concern of yours.
